On July 9th. 2012 the FBI will disconnect internet access for hundreds of thousands of computers. Last year the FBI shut down a major click-jacking fraud ring that compromised nearly 4 million computers. The FBI raided data centers in New York and Chicago, removing almost 100 servers that were infected by the malware. Rather than just shutting down all of the servers and affecting millions of users the FBI replaced them with clean servers to allow the public time to clean up their machines.
The shutdown was supposed to take place in March but due to the large amount of people and companies that would still be impacted they extended the deadline to July. If your computer is still infected after the cutoff date you essentially will lose internet connectivity. Make sure you take the proper actions to make sure your computers are safe from the internet outage and all malware attacks. If you experience any problems please contact The Launch Pad.
