TechRec: Get A Handle On Your Inbox – Mail Triage Can Help!

Do you feel like your Outlook inbox is unmanageable? Are you getting hundreds of emails a day and can’t seem to find any order? Mail Triage, a free Outlook 2010 add-in might be the tool you’ve been wishing for.

Traditionally, once Outlook is launched it immediately downloads all your latest received emails, syncs sent items, updates calendars and so on. With Mail Triage, Outlook begins by triaging emails and grouping them into conversations. This way users can easily view and navigate between emails received by the same sender and remove multiple emails by deleting conversation groups.

Mail Triage manages your email inbox by changing up the traditional Outlook layout. The new look incorporates two panes side-by-side and one at the bottom of the Outlook window. The first time the program you use the program, it will automatically categorize all emails into easily manageable conversation groups in the left pane while the right pane shows the content of the conversations. When users navigate through various mail groups, they can easily see email content in the Outlook reading pane.

With the new structure in place, users are able to sort grouped emails by number of conversations, sender, subject, time received and size. One bonus of sorting conversation by size is that you can instantly remove conversations taking up a large amount of space in your inbox. To help you sort through your inbox faster, Mail Triage also provides a condensed view of the conversation. One of our favorite features of Mail Triage is that you can create custom conversation rules based on your defined search keywords. The rules are really simple to set up. Just right click in the conversation pane and select Conversation Rule. This will bring up the Rule Manager window. Click New Rule and enter the keywords of your choice to filter conversations. By clicking OK Mail Triage will reload the conversation pane and show only filtered messages.

Mail Triage is a simple program to implement that will increase the efficiency of processing daily email. It is still in the beta phase but is available for both business and personal use free of charge. Download Mail Triage!
