TechRec | Microsoft OneNote Bringing it Together and Taking it On the Road

Microsoft’s OneNote is now available for on-the- go, professional, mobile users. OneNote Mobile lets you manage projects by allowing you to jot down, amend, and organize notes and tasks and then access them from your Smartphone, PC, or almost any web browser.

Requiring an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4.2 or higher, OneNote Mobile makes getting organized and staying productive easier than ever! You can create flexible notes that include text, pictures, bullets or checkboxes that will help move you through a day filled with meetings, appointments and other important tasks. Users are also able to organize notes into different sections or create new notebooks using OneNote 2010 or OneNote Web App. The best part is you have all your annotations right at your fingers tips with the mobile version of OneNote.

To get started using the app simply tap the Quick Note button at the bottom of the screen. Hit the screen once, and a cursor and keyboard appear so you can get to jotting down notes and making important reminders.  The OneNote list function is exceptionally useful to keep projects on schedule and manageable.  Users have the ability to put check boxes directly into a note itself, allowing items to be ticked off one by one. OneNote automatically cues up the next check box entry when you hit return, the same way Microsoft Office auto-bullets items in a bullet list.

OneNote continuously synchs with Windows Live – meaning you will need a Windows Live ID to use the service, but you can create a free account on the spot if you don’t already have a username and password. The app also synchs with SkyDrive, a Windows Live application, similar to SharePoint, that allows users to store, access, and share thousands of documents, photos, and Microsoft Office files with others. SkyDrive offers password-protection so you have control over who has access your files. For a limited time, OneNote is available in its mobile version from the Apple App Store for free!
